March 2012 A few years ago (2008), while in Vancouver, I visited the Wooden Boat Show. In the small boats area, there was a stand from Dream Catcher boats with a skin-on-frame boat displayed. I purchased a DVD from the owner Brian Chandler which describes how to make one of these boats. Last month I decided it was finally time to try and make my own skin-on-frame boat roughly following the instructions from the DVD. I purchased a plank of knot free Yellow Pine and last weekend the plank was converted into a number of long strips and plenty of sawdust. I also bought a shorter plank of Western Red Cedar which I have cut into small strips to make the ribs.
